I totally agree with you John on the trashy backyards. But that's not the point. The point is the ILA DOES NOT HAVE AUTHORITY TO TELL ANYONE TO CLEAN UP THEIR BACKYARD - the next thing you know they will be telling you that you have planted the wrong type of grass, or the color of your house is offensive or any number of things. The only thing the ILA has authority of/over (and correct me if I'm wrong) is the Easement behind the houses and the lake itself. The backyards ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE ILA's DOMAIN. Here's an idea - the yards you find offensive, contact the owner and see if you and the offended parties can help…
John, I just received the ILA's letter informing us about the Watercraft Survey along with the Rules of Lake Vilbig with its Fines and Fees Document. But I do not understand where the ILA has the authority to regulate what is in a person's backyard. If a person has something on the utility easement behind their house or on the shoreline that can/will cause problems for the health of the lake, by all means it should be removed. But the ILA does not have authority to regulate what a person has or does in their own backyard, unless somehow, we have morphed into a HOMEOWNER'S ASSOCIATION the way it was written up in this month's Irving City Spectrum, February 2024/Vol31/No2,…
Thank you, Betty, I agree. The yard must be pretty bad, for the ILA Board addresses it. People need to take pride in where they live. How many get the opportunity to live on a Lake in the middle of the DFW metroplex? If you get out on the lake, you would agree that we have some trashy backyards.
